By reducing them to their essentials, Dutch choreographer Arno Schuitemaker creates highly physical and rigorously conceptual performances using body, movement, music, light and space as fundamental elements. Each of his performances creates a unique empathetic relationship between the audience and the artists. By shedding light on notions such as rhythm and endurance, his works are immersive, visceral and fascinating.
Arno Schuitemaker's creations, including acclaimed works such as The Fifteen Project| DUET, WHILE WE STRIVE, Together_till the end, I will wait for you, If You Could See Me Now, and The Way You Sound Tonight, are presented in major festivals and renowned theaters in more than 15 countries throughout Europe and beyond.
Both Dance Europe and Tanz magazine refer to Arno Schuitemaker as "one of the most important dance actors in the Netherlands". He won the Dioraphte Encouragement Award, was selected for the Aerowaves Priority List and by the European Dance House Network EDN. In October 2019, The Way You Sound Tonight that premiered a few months earlier at the Holland Festival in Amsterdam, was bestowed with the award of most impressive dance creation in The Netherlands.
