With this piece, Ivana Müller, in collaboration with Hélène Iratchet, Julien Lacroix, Anne Lenglet and Vincent Weber, proposes a reflection on the world we live in, by taking our relation to nature as point of departure.
Inspired by the 18th century literary genre "conte philosophique", Conversations Out of Place is an allegory that takes place in an unusual and slightly absurd universe in which a group of human beings wander the same path together for days, weeks, months, years, constantly keeping their common sense of direction but slowly losing the idea of their final destination.
Interpreted by four humans and a plant, empowered by the spectators' gaze, Conversations Out of Place function as a bubbling ecosystem that produces interactions, symbiosis, waste, pollution, creating a biodiversity in a permanent state of transformation.
« (…) Which link between getting lost in a forest and deleting the data of humanity? Find the answer on the magnificent stage of Ivana Müller. » Eve Beauvallet, Libération, 24 November 2017
« (…) This beautiful philosophical and ecological fable, at the antipodes of all reductive didacticism, can be seen as a ‘life-size’ experience that immerses us in an almost hypnotic way (the tempo given by the choreographic slowness acts like a fascinating pendula) in a universe of which only Ivana Müller holds the creative power. The extreme generosity that is hers naturally makes her hand it to us on a plate…, or, as it happens, a stage, a place away from contemporary turbulence where necessary utopias are being composed. » Yves Kafka, Inferno Magazine, 2 December 2017
« (…) This sweet drift, with the appearance of an ecological study, that flirts between absurdity and gravity, calmly crosses a series of more or less existential subjects on our relationship to nature, to the other, to travel, to our own disappearance. In our fast-paced society, where images and flows of information are poured out unfiltered, Ivana Müller slows down time and offers a spuriously light lull in a soothing economy of the spectacular. »
