On September 1st, Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten, directors of the Amsterdam City Dance Company ICKamsterdam started their artistic direction of the Ballet National de Marseille, after having been appointed a few months ago by French Minister of Culture Aurélie Filippetti. Together with DVRG performing arts, Greco and Scholten wrote a plan for the future of this Centre Chorégraphique National that follows on from their ambition to engage in enduring and equal collaborations with other European top institutions, reaching out from ICKamsterdam, their platform for contemporary dance. The plan for the future of the Ballet National de Marseille proposed by Greco and Scholten envisages an intensive collaboration between the two institutions on a local level in Amsterdam and Marseille in which the advancement of innovative contemporary European ballet and cross-border talent development go hand in hand. Furthermore, ICKamsterdam and Ballet National de Marseille will continue as two autonomous institutions preserving their missions on their home ground.
